special ed.
By Terri

Clip to ScrapBook
As a parent of a special ed. student (not BD) and a sub who specializes in special ed., I would like to offer my opinion.

My daughter would rather the subject be ignored in her regular class as much as possible. If anything
is said by any other student, it should be dealt with quickly and quietly. A big discussion will just further aggravate the situation.

She is most disappointed when she misses group activities, so we try to work it out that she is in the regular classroom for as much of that stuff as possible.

As far as subbing, more than likely the student said that comment because you were a

sub. I'd like to believe that type of behavior is not allowed. Leave a note about the incident and how you dealt with it for the teacher. That way if this behavior is chronic (for either student), she can add this to any records.
