I use rewards
By Mariella

Clip to ScrapBook
I hesitate to call them treats or bribes but I do use rewards (usually stickers or snazzy pencils) and fortunately, the schools where I teach don't frown on them. I don't use candies because there are just too many food
allergies around and because a classroom charged up on sugar and chocolate isn't a good idea generally. However, I don't reward the entire class - that sort of waters down the achievements of a student or students who've worked and co-operated particularly well. All the class can try to earn the reward but only a few do (usually 3 or 4). However (and I tell them this), their ultimate
reward, as a class, is in my note that I leave at the end of the day for Mrs. XYZ telling her what an outstanding class she had and how everyone worked well and tried their best.
