Substitute wish list... By Nancy

Hmmm, if I could have anything as a sub., what would it be?An up to date seating chart for all of your classes. Lesson plans that are written out so that the sub. can understand them (I have so many teachers who leave | me with, "Just follow the plans in the lesson plan book." But, they're written with abbreviations that I don't understand! If your class is an elementary grade, a read aloud book is a wonderful activity for a sub, as are word searches and other fun activities just in case some students complete their work early. Leave me with the names of a few students that are reliable and helpful, | | and warn me of any students who may try to take advantage of the substitute. Let me know where your class needs to be, and at what time (do they have gym, music, etc.?). Also, if they get restroom breaks, what time during the day are they allowed to go (mid-morning, before lunch, after recess, etc.)? Do you have recess, bus, lunch or breakfast duty? Let your sub know of a teacher or staff member that can help walk them through the procedures during these duties. And, the nicest thing a teacher ever did for me while I was a sub. in her room was to leave a note of thanks, and 50 cents for a soda.
