days per week worked

Hi, Angel,

I subbed for six years. The number of days you get called in depends upon your popularity as a sub, the amount of sickness in a school, and the time of year.

Typically, I found the beginning of the year to
be slow. Teachers were getting started off with their kids and busy getting routines established. They were fresh and eager to work.

After about a month, things picked up a bit. Teachers started taking days off for things like workshops, doctor's appointments, etc.

By December, you see more teachers becoming sick. The kids get sick and pass it on to the teachers. Kids, especially

the younger ones, pass on sickness, because their parents don't want to worry about who's going to babysit their child while he/she is home from school.

Things are rolling by January. More sickness.

In the spring, teachers seem to get spring fever. They are also getting tired and itchy. They take mental health days. You see more absenteeism among teachers in the spring months than any other time. I worked every day in the spring.

I hope you enjoy subbing and have good experiences.
