dress as a sub
By diane

Clip to ScrapBook
I also always dressed nicely when I was a sub. I knew what grade and chose appropriately from primary so my clothes could be washed to remove paint, etc. I always felt that students responded better when I was dressed more professionally and I think it did make a good, albeit subconscious, impression on regular staff. I always felt as if subs who came in wearing "regular" clothes looked more like moms helping out, while I looked more like a teacher. Every school has it's own informal dress code, of course, but all the ones I subbed in always had someone who loved clothes and dressed well so I never really stuck out as too odd. You can rarely be overdressed if you are wearing appropriate work clothes.
