dress code

Clip to ScrapBook
What you will want to wear is practical things that look nice. You will have an aching back and feet at the end of the day if you don't wear flat, comfortable. Avoid wearing sneakers until you see how the others dress.
Some principals forbid their use, while others manage to look the other way.

Of course, while being practical, you don't want to wear that $50 dress that you bought. You can get marker and other stains on your clothing, and this will make you feel horrible.

Watch the length of your hemline. My principal insists on the "dollar bill" test. Place a dollar bill sideways along the

bottom of your hemline. If your hemline is higher than the top of the dollar bill--if there's a gap--then your skirt is too short.

Avoid wearing anything that is too tight. Don't wear jeans. Don't wear shorts, although I worked in a school which allowed dressy shorts as long as you wore a jacket with it.

The best advice I can give you for your first day as a sub is to study the clothing of the teachers you are working with. You don't want to underdress, but you don't want to dress better than they do.
