I had a similar problem with a different program last week. I had to make room on my nearly full harddrive in order to burn the project to DVD, and one of the things I deleted were some picture files. I was forgetting that the pictures are in essence linked from their original location into the project until the project is finalized. Removing the photos caused the whole thing to crash. Once I restored the photos, everything worked perfectly. Hopefully that's the case for you, too.
