What about mental math games? The kids could play cooperatively at their desks and for most of these games you need nothing more than a deck of playing cards or dice. I know you said that you've already found a morning solution, but they could leave the game out on their desks and pick it back up first thing in the morning for a few more minutes. It's a great way to build anticipation for starting the next school day and get kids to want to be in their seats fast in the morning (no dilly-dallying in the hall!)
