That is a great idea, I wish our school did that! I would also recommend the Daily 5, other titles you might want to look at are Growing Readers by Kathy Collins, who also has a new book coming out in June I believe so maybe a pre-order (you can check Stenhouse for more information & title because I just can't think of it). Reading/Writing Connection in the K-2 Classroom by Leah Mermelstein- I know it says K-2 but it gives the idea on how to connect your reading/writing. Don't Forget to Share - sorry the author is totally escaping me - she is one of the co-authors of one of the Units so she worked with Lucy Calkins. Good luck and let us know what you decide on.
