This has happened to me before

I teach 6th grade and my classes go to junior high the next year. I will never forget one year on the last day of school. You would have thought there was a funeral going on as there was so much crying. Not only me and the
girls, but even some of the boys. I was surprised at that. But we had a great year together and I will always remember and cherish them. I started crying before that last day while doing their report cards. I even started crying as soon as I saw them standing outside that last morning. It took me a while to control myself before I let them in. It was a big letdown for me when I worked

in my empty room the next morning for records day. Good luck as it will be tough for not only you, but your students. I, too, was repeatedly asked to move to junior high.
