Interesting thought about conferencing. . .

I can see already how this is true. . .

;)

At the same time, I like to have them write a (short) piece after reading ~ to get them to process the material, to get them in the habit of explaining their comprehension
on paper, and because I enjoy seeing what they have to say. :D

Still, I appreciate your thoughts ~ it's a good thing to keep in mind on those days that I need a break. (I did take notes when I was conferencing, that would help for grading purposes.) :)

The next piece that I need to understand, if you don't mind, is about what happens when they get tired of this.
. .

While I had a good day, and see this as a real plus, I know that in some ways, it was a "honeymoon" kind of reaction ~ for me and them. :o

Do you find that students, for the most part, maintain an interest with this reading? If not, do you find some approach to be more effective than others?

Thank you again ~ you have been so helpful!

:D
