Lived there...
By snapshot

Clip to ScrapBook
Gas is not $4.50/gallon in Rochester...yet.

It does snow, but there is more sun than rain. Fall is beautiful and summer runs 80s to even 90s. Spring is also nice. No real accumulation until late Dec. and it's
gone by Feb/March...but still cold through March. April gets nicer....so no, you don't live in the deep freeze.

The city of Rochester is nice but is typical for the "rust belt" areas...

You are close to Canada...

There are a variety of State Parks

Great producer of Maple Syrup in the suburbs!

Nice Erie Canal towns.

Rich local history
regarding abolition and the Underground Railroad.

It has many suburbs to choose from and is a very diverse area.

It is an easy to get to outside areas where prices are a little lower...and the countryside is beautiful...rolling hills.

There are also excellent private colleges near the city as well as great SUNY schools.

Stong Hospital is a leading hospital...

I lived there for many years. Sorry, don't know about the job market.

Taxes suck anywhere in NY...but you can get a great house for $125k depending where you look.

Good luck!:s)
