conferencing By BookMuncher

I think that once you get into a conferencing rhythm and figure out how many kids you can *feasibly* conference with in one day, you might start to find that you know your readers so well that you can undeniably tell when they are reading and when they aren't. Although- At least in my expereince, I've never ever had a kid who just plain wasn't reading. But I've had plenty who were reading books that were too easy or too hard or just weren't ready for a certain genre etc... Not that the writing piece isn't fabulous if you have the time for it, but I think you might start to find that conferencing | | covers the job that the writing is currently doing for you. Even if you're not meeting with that kid on a particular day, you really do start to get to know the child's reading pattern, pace, and stamina level. So you know if they were at the beginning of a novel on Monday and you walk past them on your way somewhere else on Wednesday and they are reading something else, something's wrong.
