Our AR... (kind of long)
By WATch

Clip to ScrapBook
School wide we use a Planet system. We have large black posterboard that is laminated and has velcro grippers on it. Each poster is a planet: Marvelous Mars, Jumpin Jupiter etc. When kids get 10 pts they get to decorate a
star, put velcro/fuzzy on the back and start at the 10pt poster. Each 10 (more) points they move their star to the next planet. Each grade level has a number that is expected; 2nd is 50, 3rd is 80, when kids reach that number they earn a t-shirt. (parent group provides these) End of year we have awards at the assembly. Kids with 100 points or more get a small trophy. We have a "roll down"
poster with each grade level total, and then a grand total. It's amazing what that averages out in number of books read !!
In my class: I have a sticker chart/grid. Each student adds a star every 5 points. Every (mostly) Tues and Fri we do "Stars & Treasures". I print a report, If they've gotten to a 5 or 10 number they add a star, On a 10 number they also get to pick a treasure. I ordered some pins from Or. Trading and they choose one at 40 points. This year I agreed to a BBQ picnic if the class total (19)was 2,000 points. Yep...I'm buying hotdogs for the end of the year, They only need about 60 pts. OH, and they have to keep 85% or higher for their points to count. This is how we start the day. They come in, order lunch, turn in homework, read & take tests. No waiting, nothing to get ready....My kids are actually reading their library books at home and coming in the morning ready for a test..YaHoo.
