I subbed for awhile before receiving a position within the district. I subbed for three districts and they would call in the evenings from 5:00-to 10:00 and then they would start making calls again in the morning at 5:30. I restricted myself to k-6. Often they were desperate and I would accept band, library, and preschool. If you are only comfortable with teaching certain subjects let them know. I would also limit myself to the number of districts that I sub for. I would accept a job for one and the other two would call and I would feel bad for telling them no. I do not miss that 5:30 wake-up call though! good luck to you!!
