Clip to ScrapBook
Boy, I couldn't wait for this board to get back up and running so I could discuss the latest developments. As I said earlier, I've had no luck so far finding a full time teaching position. I've sent resumes to all school
districts with ads and even individual schools that had no positions opened. It just so happens that one of these schools called me! I went for an interview last week. The position is for a permanent sub (which includes benefits). The Assistant Principal told me that there may be 2 vacancies mid-year that I would be encouraged to apply for. This is a much desired school district and he said
that when they do advertise, they receive literally over 1,000 resumes. Mid-year replacements are hard to fill, so I may be in luck. I suppose it really pays to send resumes to schools that aren't even advertising because you never know! Also, this school is a K-4th grade and I student taught in grades 3 & 5, so this will give me experience in a majority of grades and will hopefully get my foot in the door even further or at least provide some of the experience that will make me more marketable.

The Assistant Principal also informed me that if, in the meantime, I get a job offer for a classroom of my own, he would definitely understand. He also said that they are not the type of school that tries to keep a sub always a sub. They encourage you to find that full time job and he said they help to network and provide connections.

I think that having this school on my resume can only help me and, although, it's not my "dream job", it is an every day job and I feel a little bit better knowing that I have it. I will, of course, pursue my dream of having my own room and kids! What do you guys think?
