I grew up in a very small town

I did a lot of things by myself, even though there were friends around and we occasionally did things together. How about: fishing, gardening, bird watching, biking, hiking, learning a new craft, reading, writing, earning
money by pulling weeds or picking up rocks in the yard. I also agree with making a weekly trip for most of the day. Talk to your son about what that trip might consist of. Can you bike somewhere in a relatively decent amount of time? Perhaps head out early in the day when it's not so hot. Maybe someone could pick you up and take you home later in the day? Can you get a cheapo plastic pool
for some outdoor water fun?:s)

one more idea; does any room in the house need painting? That would be a fairly simple yet time consuming task he could handle with your help. Then he'd a appreciate feeling "bored" the next day! Are there any farms nearby who would hire him for help? Perhaps they could even pick him up or he could bike there? Ok, so that was 2 ideas. Good luck!
