There was a school district near Dallas that considered this last year, parents came out in droves to protest and they didn't go through with it. Was the same "savings" - transportation and cooling the schools (our issue is A/C, where yours I'm guessing is heat.. :D)

I personally wouldn't mind it... I've had "four day weeks" for the past two years, in a way... I don't have students on Fridays (I do pullout), and unless I have something going on (testing, UIL, science fair - all the other "extra" stuff I have to coordinate) - my Fridays are "planning" - all of which could be done at home. I'm seriously considering asking if I can work from home on those days to save gas...
