Sabbatical Definition

Clip to ScrapBook
In my district, a teacher has to work for six consecutive semesters to qualify for a semester's leave (sabbatical) for either health or educational reasons. Twelve consecutive semesters of work are needed to qualify for a year-long sabbatical. While on sabbatical versus a straight leave from work, you are able to get a percentage of your pay, 60%. You must return to work the following year to avoid having to repay the money. You are guaranteed to have a job but not the same position. Usually you have the same job when you return.
