My camcorder is a Hitachi. I lost the DVD that came with it, loaded with the software to read the format. Do not assume that any software will read any format of video recording! I recently bought the Dazzle and I'm thrilled that now I'll be able to use my camcorder to take the video and keep it!

The dazzle will also allow you to connect a VCR to the computer and you'd be able to transfer any home movies on VHS to DVD.
