i've applied for both full time and substitute teaching at about four districts in san diego county. each district does the same thing! the packet, the fingerprinting...tb skin test. it seems like any idiot can walk up and be placed on the sub list. i have the utmost respect for ALL OF US TEACHERS, but it is a bit disheartening that districts aren't more discerning when it comes to hiring "visiting teachers." it makes me feel like i'm just another one of the cattle... still, i look forward to my first year or so of subbing. hopefully i won't have to sub for too long!
