subbing
By noreen

Clip to ScrapBook
After my first year teaching and I was home on maternity leave, I subbed when my husband was home. One thing I did was put together files for each grade with word searches, puzzles and other fun activities for each grade level. I also brought a bag of lollipops and stickers to use as incentives. If I came into a classroom where there were no clear plans I had atleast something to occupy the troops until I could get my bearings and find the manuals. This worked for me for grades K-8. For social studies you could check out what topics are used on each level and
find sheets (using the web, Library or other teachers) Acting like you know what you are doing cuts down on the kids trying to take advantage.
Good Luck.
