Word walls
By mt

Clip to ScrapBook
don't really get used or even looked at too much by the kids. I really think they're ignored unless they're consciously made part of the teaching.

We are supposed to have one, but I don't really have room for
it. The one big bulletin board I have is dedicted to a big world map, and the smaller boards are doing other things, as well. So I made my room a "word room." When the kids find good words, they write it on an index card and tape it up somewhere in the room. The rules I have to have are you can't hang anything from the lights, can't cover the fire drill map, or the windows in the door.
Other than that, go for it.

They love it! And my room is literally DRIPPING with words--all over the walls, my computer cart, the back board, the bookcases.....I think the kids own it a little more this way.
