Word walls By mt

don't really get used or even looked at too much by the kids. I really think they're ignored unless they're consciously made part of the teaching.
We are supposed to have one, but I don't really have room for| it. The one big bulletin board I have is dedicted to a big world map, and the smaller boards are doing other things, as well. So I made my room a "word room." When the kids find good words, they write it on an index card and tape it up somewhere in the room. The rules I have to have are you can't hang anything from the lights, can't cover the fire drill map, or the windows in the door. | | Other than that, go for it.
They love it! And my room is literally DRIPPING with words--all over the walls, my computer cart, the back board, the bookcases.....I think the kids own it a little more this way.
