Why not? If you want to start subbing then go ahead and fill out the applications and get your name on the sub lists starting now. That way, you will be all set before September rolls around. One person's negative experiences with subbing should not affect your decision--if it is something you wnat to do, then by all means, go ahead and do it. I subbed for three years before I started a permanent teaching job. There were good days and bad days, but the experience was well worth it!
