Did away with mine this year...
By jmartell

Clip to ScrapBook
I felt guilty at first, but my kids never used it no matter how much I tried to teach them to be resourceful in this way. And, I also had trouble keeping up with the word wall and finding enough space to allow me to make
the words big enough for the kids to be able to see them from anywhere in the room. So, I turned to their personal dictionaries; I placed more emphasis on this and they seemed to pick up on this resource better. So, I finally just took the word wall down for this school year. I did post the spelling, high frequency words and vocab words for the week, however.

By the way, I like
your graphing idea for the board instead. I have been thinking of getting something like that together too...One of my colleagues has the kids graph their lunch choice every day and then puts a different graphing question on the board after lunch for them to move their name to.
