Someone else
started an interesting thread about 'mistakes to avoid' in the first years of teaching. In case you haven't seen it yet, you might want to check it out...

I teach 4th grade and for the past few years, even though it's probably intended for younger students, I have been reading First Day Jitters to my students on
the first day of school with great success, to help them see that we ALL get nervous about the first day of school! (Yes! Even though I've taught all grades from K-8th, I STILL get nervous for the first day of school!)

Here's a discussion about this book-First Day Jitters

As we get closer to the opening of the next school year, you'll continue to find lots of threads with lots more questions, ideas and suggestions. Stay tuned! :)
