storage

Clip to ScrapBook
I would HIGHLY recommend purchasing quality storage devices! I left 2nd grade a few years back and I put all of my files in large rubbermaid-type hanging file tubs from Office Depot. They've stayed in really great shape
and they'll be really easy to pop back into the file cabinet if I'm ever teaching 2nd again. I would also suggest storing any other teaching materials (others than plastics) in a quality tub. I had to bring my materials home and store them in the garage and basement and it was important to me to protect my investment -- there's an awful lot of time and money sitting in those tubs!

:) I'm moving up to 4th also! I've been doing a MAJOR purge in my classroom. I've been pretty ruthless...if I have any doubt about something - I've been trashing it! I figure that if I absolutely need it again later, I can probably find it online or just purchase it.

The funniest thing to me is that I had an ENTIRE FILE DRAWER of seasonal files...I think my Xmas stuff took up 3 file folders and nearly 10 inches of drawer space. Like I have time for seasonal worksheets! So, I allowed myself ONE folder for each holiday/season, but I didn't keep more than 5-10 sheets/activities per folder.

I've learned that I need to be pickier about what I put in my files to begin with. It used to be that I'd run across a "cute" worksheet and just shove it into the file without giving it much thought. I made such a mess for myself...it's taken me HOURS to clean it all out. But, happily, I've gotten it all reduced to one cabinet. There's not much room to spare, but I figure that I'll continue to clean things out as I use my files throughout the next year.

:s) Enjoy your summer! See you on the 4th grade boards!
