caution with tape recording
By Libby

Clip to ScrapBook
A word of caution to this seemingly ingenious idea. Some districts have very strict policies about student's rights to refuse to be videotaped or have their pictures taken without their or their parent's express permission. If you are subbing in such a district, you could end up in a whole lot more trouble than if you were simply caught with an unruly class. The best thing to do is to clear the recording with the absent teacher, principal, or someone else in authority. They may tell you it is ok, and they will be glad you took the initiative to ask, but if they tell you it is against the rules, it's better to know that ahead of time.
