notes in math
By Margaret916

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 6th grade math -- I've done a couple of different ideas this year. All have their own ups and downs.

-interactive notebook style -- they glue MY typed notes in, and add just the examples. with stuff on
the other side they do with partners.

--cloze type outlines of the notes I"m going to talk through -- they glue in some of the notes, but there are regular chunks missing.

-- notes from the board, notes from a lesson written up there.

We found that outlines were tough for the kids, but a required objective for "the test" so each of our classes used several
outlines each month to help the kids become familiar with them.

I don't assess on notes other then if they're complete. We do a "notebook check" at the end of each chapter, they get a check for each finished page.

Good luck!
