In a nutshell, TFA is like a peace corp for teachers. Teachers are selected to work in inner
cities and rural areas where there has tradtionally been difficulty in finding teachers to work in these areas. Teachers sign-up for a two year committment. During this time, TFA will help you obtain your teaching credential. I don't believe they'll pay for it, but they've set up partnerships with nearby colleges/universities to expedite the process.

I was in the first group
to go through TFA. I worked in Lynwood, an inner city area of Los Angeles, also known as the gang capital of California. It was okay. I understand that there have been a lot of changes since 1990, as they've put more emphasis on supporting the corps members and helping them to obtain credentials.

I've listed two websites above that may be helpful to you. Their main web address is:

TeachforAmerica.org

Hope it helps,
De'Anna
