PBIS
By ABC

Clip to ScrapBook
We also have been using PBIS for about 6 years. The premise of the plan is to basically stop behaviors before they happen, instead of always reacting to them. The same general rules are posted for the whole school. Our
school name is actually the acronym for the rules. We have the 'caught being goods' which students can cash in at a school store once a week or they can be added to a drawing which is daily over the announcements. We have quarterly reward parties for behavior as well. The only stipulation of this plan is there needs to be 100% buy in or it doesn't work.

They talk about a triangle
diagram which reflects your kids. Most kids, I believe 80% will respond well to your basic PBIS plan. 10-15 percent will do okay with a little more rewarding and praising and the top "red" kids which are about 5% don't seem to care about anything even receiving an ODR (office referral). I think those kids are the hardest; and I think that's where we struggle the most with our PBIS and what we talk about the most. Overall I think it has good value and always needs a little tweaking to meet your needs.
