What you have is not a negative -- but a positive. I went to a community college after high school -- then worked where EVERYONE had an advanced degree (masters and doctorates). I felt like the idiot
However, now that I have degree/s I see that was just my insecurities. I don't see anyone with/without a degree reallly as any different. I like people based upon their personality and sense of humor. I would hope the people who work with you see you that way as well. There are several teachers that I work with who went back to school. I'm sure that you have some as well. If you had such a hard time in school, perhaps you had a learning disability that was undiagnosed. Or, you were just a "late bloomer." You'll be surprised at the number of professor's kids who do the same thing. I think it may be a bit of rebelling. Anyway, don't know yourself. You should be proud. I tell my students all the time how bad I was at math when I was in theri grade. But, I tell them how I fought back to conquer it. You can use your experiences to your advantage in school. Besides, no one will know anything about your high school years if you don't tell them. And really no one really cares. You are a teacher and that requires education. Be proud!
