teachers pick classes

I have actually been on the receiving end of one of those "teacher picked classes" when I taught the grade after one of my best friends. My very well meaning friend would give me many of her best kids. She was fair and gave good kids to each teacher and we all got our fair share of difficult kids, but it was obvious she gave me the best of the best. I never asked her to do this and I know her thinking was that I was the best teacher for them(she is my best friend right? :) and thinks of me as a very competent teacher). Anyway, my coworkers of course were not happy and often had snide remarks to make about my class and it ended up being more difficult for me than easy. Now I've moved up another grade and it is not an issue.
