Reading Power
By PiscesGirl

Clip to ScrapBook
Are you looking for meta-cognition lessons in any particular area? If you are interested in meta-cognition as it connects to literacy, a great resource is "Reading Power: Teaching Students to Think While They Read" by Adrienne Gear. This book is organized around five reading strategies or "powers" - connect, question, visualize, infer, and transform. Each "power" has a song or chant, sequential lessons, graphic organizers, and a list of children's books that lend themselves to studying a specific power. I love thinking about thinking with kids!!
