Preparing for a sub
By L.P.

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Rose,
That must have been pretty stressful for you. I know, because I've been there. Unfortunately, what you described isn't all that unusual, especially for classes that are hard to get subs for. I've had several
of those and refuse to go back. They don't want to warn us ahead of time, we might not want to show up! So we are unsuspecting until we get there and find out we don't need teaching tools, we need a whip and a chair!

Yes, she should have left you notes or at least told you who was a troublemaker or who had problems but some people are just not that organized. It sounds like she

was in too big of a hurry to escape! Having a class like that full time must be very stressful. One teacher I subbed for had to keep her thumb on them all the time. She did leave me notes on who the troublemakers were (about 10 of them in a class of 30) but left inadequate work for them. So not only did I have to keep my thumb on them, I had to plan for them as well. I had that class for 3 days and by Friday, I was worn out. I couldn't imagine having them all year.

I hope your next class is a good one!

Laurie :o)
