I really didn't read any "over the top" type attitude in the original post. If it was a real post, then I think he/she was acting responsible by asking people who might give an intelligent answer. I don't think condemning him/her as hypocritical or a zealot is really necessary.

It sounded to me like someone that may of had a bad day and was venting about how some of these kids could use SOME kind of value system instilled in them.

No, having a teacher discuss any religion isn't right in public schools. It is just too personal of a thing.
