Did You know?
By biyubelle

Clip to ScrapBook
There were two different severe food allergies that we had to address. One was peanuts (which is not a true nut but a legume) and the other was tree nuts.

We are soooooooo far away from the nearest medical facility
that we decided to be a "nut free" school (if you don't count the the principal and a few of the teachers)LOLLOL. The difficulty is that nuts and peanuts are sometimes used in processed foods, so you just never know.

When we explained it to the parents, they were extremely cooperative. The cafeteria was able to make adjustments as well. So far we have not had any issues with
our allergic children. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

P.S. We have the cutest logo posted on the entrance to the school next to the drugfree and the smoke free logos. It looks just like the other two but has a peanut in the center.

I digress, but I had to come back to share this. One of the grandmothers came to school to pickup her grandchild. I was in the office when she asked about the sign. The secretary told her we were a nut free school. Without hesitation or facial expression, she asked, "Oh, Mrs. __________ must have retired?" I thought I was going to have to pick the secretary up off the floor.
