    I'm not sure what you are looking for but here are some ideas that came to mind:
    Each student makes a circle out of a piece of yarn. He/she lays it in the grass and lists all of the living/non-living things inside the area. They'll be surprised!
    I always take my kids out on a nice spring day and practice summer reading under a tree or in the grass. We each bring several books and trade with friends after we finish withthe ones we brought.
    Measure the size of the dinosaurs to give kids perspective of how large some of them were.
    Go on a scavenger hunt. Give them a list of things to look for or maybe just see how many things they can find that start with each letter of the alphabet.
