snack time
By MKat

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 1/2 day K, so no lunch. However, the snacks horrify me sometimes.

Most of the kids do pretty well, but I have one child who brings a full sized lunchable every day - the ones complete with the drink. His family really struggles financially and it kills me to see him throw away at least $10 worth of food every week. I was giving him a baggie and making him take home the leftovers, but his mom is still sending them even now that she knows he doesn't eat them - so I've stopped bothering.

I've written notes in my newsletter about keeping snacks small and simple since we have so little time and the kids want to go to recess, but I doubt that particular mom reads the newsletter.
