games

Clip to ScrapBook
Since I teach language arts, I have sometimes used word games - for younger kids, phonemic awareness games are good. The older kids may like spelling games. The other day I played the game with my 3rd graders where you start with a word, then change a letter at a time to make completely different words.

You could also play mental math games - give them age-appropriate problems to figure out in their heads. Our 4th and 5th graders love it when the teachers give them long problems (at an appropriate pace, of course) - e.g. "41... minus 3... plus 2... divided by 4" and then someone gets picked to give the answer.

I hope you understood these. Sometimes my explanations aren't that clear.
