this has bugged me for a long time

Clip to ScrapBook
Not only do parents pack junk food for the kids, but they do not get outdoors to play either They watch tv or play video games all day.

On our state testing days the PTA is in charge of sending snacks up to the
room before the test starts. Kids eat this just in case they didn't eat a good healthy breakfast. Guess what they send up for snacks....here is the menu.
Reading Test: Writing Test: Chips Ahoy
Tues---Fritos
Wed--Oreos
Thurs--Chips

The same ridiculous thing will happen for the math test which is coming in May...ughhh

this is apalling and I actually
said something this year. Where is the fruit? Fruit is great first thing in the AM.. Even yogurt would be better than the junk they send up. My student teacher was apalled too. She could not believe that the PTA would do that. I am wondering why the junk...send up bunches of apples, bananas, yougurt, cereal bars would even be better. I hope no one though I was a witch for saying something.

Another thing I witness each year or so it seems that the overweight children are eating junk and the average/skinny children are eating healthier foods....This is a vicious cycle that parents need to be made aware of. I think they should have nutrition/lifestyle counseling for parents/children to attend together.
