    My take...

As a former teacher and a mom...I'm against telling parents what to pack for a snack for their child. As teachers we're always saying that we're tired of the parents expecting US to parent their child...yet now we're TELLING them what kind of foods to feed their child...isn't that doing the job of the parent?

As a parent, I know what my kid will eat and what I can afford. I'm not going to pack a bunch of carrot sticks that will just get wasted because he won't eat them. I don't send cookies, etc. But, I do send pretzels or nutrigrain bars. I was told those were inappropriate. I told them to mind their own business.

I think the schools need to know where to draw the line.
