i'm sorry you have so many challenges!!! wow---how many at your grade level--is it like that in all classes (some years are just overwhelming), or it did you just get *****ed this year? i feel your pain (well, 1/9 of it).
i have a seriously challenging student this year---whew!

here is my advice: get the okay from your principal first, then find a few staff members willing to help you out. sit down with those most challenging students and let them know what will happen--they will be appropriate or they will not get to stay in the classroom with you--to do the fun things and get help on work.
they will work (on way more boring stuff) somewhere else.

then, if one becomes out of hand, ship him/her off immediately, work-in-hand to designated staff member for monster child X. (make sure you farm the kids out evenly so each helper teacher only gets one--with the agreement that if the kids poses a problem there, he goes straight to the office.)

i know EXACTLY how you feel (okay, again, maybe not to your extent), but it is so frustrating when those kiddos demand so much of your time, energy, and patience and everyone else suffers. get rid of them! and you should be able to move along nicely. (and hopefully it will make a difference and they'll want to return.) i do a lot of games with prizes, and other "fun" activities like labs, so usually, kids don't want to leave.

good luck! whisper this mantra in your head if you need to: 5 more weeks, 5 more weeks....
