Do you have a university near you? Many of the books that are mentioned on the boards for reading and writing are textbooks that are required for teachers in training. I know because I had to purchase many of these books for my senior year classes. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I might actually use them in the classroom, so I sold them back. But, you would be able to see many of them at a university book store and even be able to buy them used and save a few bucks!
