F&P benchmark assessments
By EMO109

Clip to ScrapBook
My district began using these kits this year. Based on the instructions & training DVD, I think you are supposed to treat the comprehension assessment more as a conversation and the idea is that the children should be able
to touch upon most of the prompted questions without being specifically asked. You fill in with the questions that they haven't touched upon during the conversation.

As the previous poster said, the prompts most often are needed for the higher level (inferencing) questions. For the most part, my students (4th grade) have answered each of the literal prompts on their appropriate
level without me needing to give them the prompts. However, some of the higher level questions are a bit obscure for the students to come up with on their own. That doesn't mean that they don't know the answer when asked the question.

That said, you have some leeway when giving the score -- if you feel like you had to fill in too many gaps, you can make the choice to give the lower score on the rubric.
