25% Is waaaay too much. Can you do that?

25% Is too much of a percentage of their overall grade. My new favorite motto is : It takes a parent to be a teacher. and a teacher to be a parent. As a college student/ teacher/ mother/ and wife. I know how hard it is to
get homework done in a timely manner. When I get home from school I go to class, when I get home from class I cook and clean. My son is in Kindergarten so he can't do homework by himself. I help him and then it's basically time to go to sleep and start all over again. I play wife on the weekends. Sometimes it's not that the parents don't care to turn in the homework or make sure their
child does it, Sometimes it's just bad organization, which I'm sure we all understand. My son bring home a folder marked with the famous "Leave AT HOME" and "Return To School" side pockets. But everything is always on either the leave at home side or the return to school side. I always check all the papers to make sure they're all done and then no matter what I send them all back the next day just in case there was some homework stuck in there. Either way I know that all parents aren't so cautious, But how can they be when their child brings home the same pile of papers for 5 days straight. It gets to the point where they just keep them beacuse they don't want you, the teacher to think that they are not checking. The the papers meet the trash can and case closed. On the other hand as a teacher I had a parent who came to me and asked why her daughter kept bringing home the same lunch money. I wanted to say "Are you kidding me? Do you really expect me to check 20 Kindergarten Backpacks every morning to see if anyone has lunch money."
