Are you a Mac user? If so, I use iDVD to create a slideshow and burn to DVDs for my kids. I have done this the last 3 years. If you use Windows, maybe someone else can post what program is similar.

The songs I have used are: Oh Very Young (Cat Stevens), The Time of Your Life (Green Day), and Sweet Child O' Mine (Guns & Roses). I don't know if you would want to use those for 2nd (I teach 5th). My kids love it and the parents do, too. I have a sibling of a former student and she told me her older sister watches her DVD all the time from 2 years ago.
