looping at my building

My elementary building has only 2nd and 3rd grades. Like ccteacher said, it sometimes depends on enrollment. Teachers here that loop go from 2nd to 3rd and then back again. We started with one pair of teachers that agreed
to loop so the number of classrooms at each grade level stayed constant. Then we had two teams who would loop, and next year it'll be 3 teams. We've had increasing enrollment, now up to 11 classes at each grade level, and people who didn't consider looping before who are going to "go for it".

If a teacher wishes to stay with a grade level, it changes things, but it could be a year

that we have a position open and it works out. One teacher had planned to loop from 2nd this year to 3rd next year, then starting saying her class was one that she didn't want to stay with for another year. Eventually she agreed to maintain the loop and will be teaching 3rd with her class next year.
