Free audio books
By kat

Clip to ScrapBook
Perhaps this isn't entirely legal, but I created by audio library by going to the public library, checking out their audio book cds for children, ripping them to my computer and then burning them onto blank cds. I glue the
paper cd envelopes together if there is more than one cd to a book (so it's kind of like an accordion with slits at the top of each envelope for the cd to go into) laminate the covers and then re-slit the tops. I keep the audio books on my computer in case a student scratches a cd-I can just re-burn it. I claim ignorance on copyright laws because I never looked them up, and it's for
education, right? And it would be the same if they just checked it out from the library themselves, right? (no posts arguing this theory, please). Before I got my grant for new cd players, I used www.freecycle.org to gather used cd players (it's an e-mail list where people give away free items to those who want/need them). So you can essentially build an audio library for free.

You can also go to audibles.com to download audio books-they just expanded their children's section-and then burn them to your cds. I like this way a lot more than buying the cds because students WILL scratch them, and you can just reburn a replacement.
