Clip to ScrapBook
I thought the same thing about the length. She's only in my room for 7 1/2 weeks. She's already been at another school for 7 1/2 weeks. In the guidebook from her school it says that she is required to teach ONE solo week,
but her college prefers her to teach THREE. I created her schedule so that she would be teaching 3 weeks. She kept saying that she was only supposed to teach one week and was supposed to do NOTHING but observe for her last week with me. Her first attempt at doing three lessons in my classroom on one day was AWFUL. By lunch time, I had a fourth grade boy crying, because he just could
not handle the chaos any longer. I spoke to her advisor with ST present and told her that I would need to adjust her schedule and move the bulk of her solo teaching until after my testing, but that she had said that she wasn't supposed to do anything that last week and was supposed to only teach one week. Her advisor said, "No, she is supposed to teach AT LEAST one week, and she can do anything you want her to do that last week." ST said, "She had me doing too much too quick." (blamed it on me for pushing her too quickly)

Therefore, I readjusted her schedule and started keeping very detailed notes of what she does and does not do in my classroom. I also have intentionally, since she doesn't want to work, not given her much of anything to do except watch me for the bulk of time she has been there (My attempt to bore her to death. Heee Heeee). She needs to watch someone who knows what they are doing. She has been responsible for teaching for a one hour block each day for about three weeks now while her classroom management skills develop. She takes the students to all out of classroom activities. We've also had a week long break while she's been with me, she's missed four days, came in at lunch time one day, and left at lunch time on another. She really hasn't been there very many days. Plus this week of testing of course.

My principal says we won't be accepting any more students from her college. We can't believe she has made it this far in their program.
